Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has empowered hundreds of constituents in the federal constituency with modern-day digital skills needed to compete in today’s world.

The 4-day skill acquisition and empowerment programme, which commenced on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Aridunnu event centre, Igboora, Ibarapa Central headquarters, had in attendance hundreds of constituents from the five principal towns that make up the constituency.

The initiative, which was designed, monitored and evaluated by the Centre for Management Development (CDM), is aimed at equipping youth and women in the two local government areas with foundational digital skills to thrive in the digital age and seize opportunities for personal and professional growth. It is also geared at enabling participants to confidently navigate the online world and lay the groundwork for further digital literacy development. It encompasses exposing residents in the constituency to basic computer literacy, internet navigation, email management, social media usage, online safety and productivity tools, fostering a solid understanding of essential digital concepts and technologies.

According to Com. Adeola Adeleke Abayomi, President of the Federation of Ibarapa Students’ Association (FIBSA), who spoke on behalf of the students community in the federal constituency, Hon. Adepoju has demonstrated yet again the zeal in him to carry everyone along in his representation.

The students’ leader lauded the planning and organisation of the exercise, praising the lawmaker for ensuring that all students’ unions were carried along in the exercise. He said the initiative was impactful, praying for renewed strength and motivation for him to facilitate more programmes where every stage of the members of the constituency continues to be a beneficiary.

Appreciating the participants in the exercise, Hon. Adepoju said he would continue to work diligently to serve the needs of his people, who gave him the mandate to serve freely.

He appreciated the CMD and its officials for their painstaking efforts in impacting meaningful knowledge on the people of the constituency. The lawmaker extended his gesture to Barrister Uche Nwani, who is the Director of CMD, Lagos Operational Office, for his role throughout the 4-day training.

Hon. Adepoju also thanked the federal government of Nigeria for providing opportunities for the people at the local level to learn and be better armed with the digital skills, which he said were important for both the old and the young to excel in any activity they engage in.

Each participant at the event received the sum of fifty thousand naira (N50,000) each, besides the stipend that was given to them yesterday by the lawmaker to subsidise the cost of transportation.
