It is a well-known fact that most of our constituents engage in farming at different levels, and Ibarapa land is richly blessed with arable farmland. The state government under the administration of Engr. Seyi Makinde has invested significantly in this sector because of the belief that agriculture will be the next major export of the nation. I will propose or support any law that will enhance the promotion of agriculture while easing the burden encountered by our farmers. My goal will be to use my resources and contacts at the Federal and State levels including agencies overseas, to facilitate all types of support for our farmers. The intervention will not be limited to purchasing tools for farming, financial aid, technological support, and the provision of fertilizers, seeds, and machinery needed to produce. Our farmers will also be supported with innovative ideas and assisted with connecting diverse markets to sell their products. The assistance given to our farmers will enable other people sitting on the fence to go into farming as a means of livelihood, thereby reducing the employment deficit we are currently experiencing. It will also help to create more jobs that may not be farming but by-products of the farming interventions, such as transporters of goods, middlemen, farm products preservation agents, contractors, etc. The entire agricultural business value chain will be impacted from the farm to the final consumer, who may be local or international. Engaging our youth and women will be a top priority, especially in the agricultural sector.
